On July 4th, 2025, devastating floods swept through the Texas Hill Country and caused severe damage to Camp La Junta. Cherished facilities were destroyed, gathering spaces were washed away, and the grounds were left scarred. Yet, what the flood could not take away is what matters most: the spirit, traditions, and community that have shaped generations of young men.
That is why we, as Friends of Camp La Junta – alumni, families, and supporters – are uniting to ensure the mission of camp is rebuilt stronger than ever, continuing the legacy of excellence for decades to come.
Our Mission
Camp La Junta has always been more than a summer camp. It is a place where boys grow into men of character, where lifelong friendships are forged, and where life-shaping experiences help the next generation learn resilience, responsibility, and leadership.
The flood may have taken down buildings, but it cannot take away our purpose. Together, we will rebuild camp:
- Stronger: Deploying modern designs and construction methods to withstand future challenges.
- Safer: Safeguarding campers, staff, and families with improved infrastructure and emergency systems.
- Better: Developing spaces that enrich the camp experience and preserve the traditions that define La Junta.
- Community Focused: Ensuring Camp La Junta and the Outdoor Experience Fund continues to provide safe, innovative, and nurturing outdoor experiences to promote fun, personal growth, and life-changing experiences to children and their families
